when paintings fail

They fail with style. Someone (me) attacked it with some cerulean dots. Oh dear.

Steadfast

Just a quick painting, loosely referenced so i could test my photoshop palette arrangement. It works nicely.

Concieve Of You

My new friend

Look at him! Isn't he simply awesome? I found him in an old antique market, slung at the back of a large room full of half-useable furniture, and I got to take him home for free. The thing is, I really bought him for the frame. Yes, its falling apart and all wormwooded and very much worse for wear, but I liked the asthetic. I plan on taking him out and putting in one of my own drawings. I just need to think of a suitably wonderful and eerie subject.

Winghead

I had this idea, that i may come back to at some point. But I tried painting digitally a while back, and even started again because the first ended up totally the wrong feeling. They've both been hanging around on my pc and not being shown to many people, so I thought I'd put them on here. Maybe I'll finish it, or re do it in natural media sometime.

A little early clip:

Then where the first painting was left:

And then the second painting. which dispite feeling more successful than the first never left off.

Faliures can be good too

Sometimes, a picture doesnt quite go to plan, but it ends up a nice sketch anyways.

P.s I love quink ink and guache. LOVE.

Garden girl revisited

You know how you look at an image and you think 'something's missing...' and then it twigs, and you correct it, and suddenly it becomes a whole pile of awesome you never really imagined? Yeah. That happened here.

Why so shy?

another digital girl. She's a bit more approachable, perhaps.

In other news, I went and got an Agent. Watch this space!

Indeed.

I was planning on doing a whole lot more finished piece, along with 3 other different designs for some eyeshadow palette packaging, just because I think I can do it. and I needed something good for my portfolio....

Its more a mock up, a sketch. I'd totally re-do it if i had the time, but I have to print more pages tomorrow, and then thats that.

Stuff and things

A recent commission for Leitch & CO solicitors (website coming soon). Landmarks of evesham! It reminded me how much architecture fustrates me. I can't get things even, ever. all them angles and mathmatical lengths, gah!

more old things

I just remembered that I did these right at the end of my 3rd year, but they never made their way into my portfolio nor on to any art sites I participate in. they are portraits of two influential aisian writers, Bidisha and Bali Rai. I did them as a commission for Mantra Lingua, a childrens book publisher that specialises in publishing in minority languages. though I am unsure if they ever were used.

A Norwegian *cough* i mean, RPG landscape.

Heavily inspired by Norwegian beauty, this is just a little peek at what im working on currently. Its taking forever, because I havent painted in PS from scratch since FOREVER. And I never do landscapes.

I am unusually proud of the water in the bottom right corner.

Caw! Caw!

I love jackdaws. So i turned one into a mythical Myrebird for ArtPG. Its a low-level enemy that won't attack you unless it feels threatened, and tends to scratch at you with those claws and emit a confusing cloud of black energy in your face.

sleep? whats that?

and who needs it anyway?

Dove

Dove is a character for a forum activity called ArtPG. Its an RPG where everyone creates a character and draws them along with enviroments, enemies and adventures. Every drawing gains EXP. I thouhgt I would Give it a stab! here goes nothing.

I'm not quite sure of the story about Dove as yet, but it involves something like fallen splendour. She's led a sheltered existence in her past, but now she has to face the harsh world of Artpg...

Guache and Quink ink makes a happy maria

So, I've been experimenting the past couple of days with Quink ink and white gouache- and I'm very happy with the results. A very theraputic and easy manipulated medium to use.

Here are some close ups for your perusal:

Birds, with obligatory lady

of course, I actually regret putting those birds in. made a mess of an otherwise pleasing sketch.

It's always a surprise when you walk into a life drawing session and realise you know the model

Might as well start this thing off then
